RE: Flags at Half-Staff
On November 5, 2009, 13 soldiers lost their lives and 31 were injured at Fort Hood Military Base. President Barack Obama gave a speech in the Rose Garden today ordering the flags at the White House and other federal buildings to be flown at half-staff from now until Veterans Day. The President also stated that this is a modest tribute to those who lost their lives even as many were preparing to risk their lives for their country. It’s also recognition of the men and women who put their lives on the line everyday to protect our safety and uphold our values.
The Governor, in accordance with the order by the President, has asked that all state and local governments join him in honor of those who loss their lives at Fort Hood Military Base on November 5, 2009, by lowering the flag to half-staff from now until Veterans Day.
