TALLAHASSEE – Governor Charlie Crist today agreed to a friendly wager with Governor Bob Riley of Alabama regarding Saturday’s outcome of the SEC Football Championship between the University of Florida Gators and the University of Alabama Crimson Tide at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia.
“I am proud of how far UF Coach Urban Meyer and his team have come through a season of hard-fought, well-deserved victories,” said Governor Crist. “I join Gator fans across the Sunshine State in rooting for them, and I am honored that Governor Riley has agreed to this friendly wager. Go Gators!”
If the Gators swamp the Crimson Tide for a victory, Governor Crist will be receiving a rack of ribs from Tuscaloosa’s famous Dreamland Barbeque, courtesy of Governor Riley. If the Tide roll over the Gators, Governor Crist will send Governor Riley a box of Florida oranges.
“I’m looking forward to Alabama’s 22nd SEC football championship – and to those Florida oranges from my friend Governor Crist,” Governor Riley said. “But seriously, these are two great universities, two outstanding footballs teams and two incredible head coaches. It is going to be amazing to watch these teams compete this year. Roll tide!”
