Civil Rights
Governor Crist believes that once a prisoner serves his or her debt to society, the state should automatically restore his or her civil rights so that the ex-offender may vote and become gainfully employed.
Over the years, Governor Crist has been a leader in the civil rights movement. In the 2003 Legislative Session, one of the Governors top priorities was passage of the Dr. Marvin Davies Florida Civil Rights Act which enabled the Attorney General to bring a civil rights action against those who engage in a pattern or practice of discrimination or for issues of great public interest.
